Why Is Everyone Moving To Greenville, SC?

An Up and Coming Community In The Heart of The Upstate

Greenville, South Carolina, is quickly becoming one of the most desirable places to live in the United States. The city has undergone a transformation in recent years, and residents are reaping the benefits. From an affordable cost of living to a thriving job market and a vibrant downtown, Greenville has it all.

In this blog post, we will explore why everyone wants to move to Greenville, SC.

Affordability

One of the biggest draws of Greenville is its affordability. The cost of living is lower than the national average, making it an attractive option for those looking to stretch their budget. Housing costs are also reasonable, with a mix of both historic and modern homes available at a variety of price points. This means that whether you’re looking to rent or buy, you can find something that fits your budget in Greenville.

However, just because the cost of living is low doesn’t mean that you aren’t getting a high-quality living experience – Greenville is a bustling city with a thriving arts community, tons of outdoor space, a robust job market, and great schools. Greenville residents are definitely getting their money’s worth.

Job Market

As we mentioned, Greenville has a diverse and thriving job market, with opportunities in healthcare, technology, manufacturing, and more. Companies such as BMW, Michelin, and GE have headquarters or major operations in the area, providing employment opportunities for thousands of residents. The city is also home to numerous startups and small businesses, making it an ideal location for entrepreneurs.

Education

The city of Greenville is part of the Greenville County School District, one of the largest school districts in the United States. The district consistently ranks among the best in the state of South Carolina and is a “choice district.” This means that while every student is assigned a “home” school, they may opt to attend another school within the district by submitting paperwork to the administration with their top three choices.

In 2020, the district created a fully virtual K-12 offering in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. While schools have reopened, the fully virtual option remains available for families seeking accessability accommodations for their children.

In addition to an excellent K-12 public school system, Greenville, SC is also home to a number of private and charter schools, as well as a number of colleges and universities. Clemson University, which is located 30 miles away, has a number of programs centered in downtown Greenville.

Downtown

Downtown Greenville has undergone a major revitalization in recent years, transforming it into a bustling hub of activity. The area is home to a wide variety of restaurants, shops, and entertainment options, making it an ideal location for young professionals and families. Whether you’re looking to grab a bite to eat or catch a show at the Peace Center, there’s always something happening downtown.

Recreation and Healthcare

The city is also known for its exceptional healthcare system, providing residents with access to top-notch medical care. There are two main health systems in the city, each with multiple locations and offering a number of specialties. Prisma Health has the only children’s hospital in the Upstate region of South Carolina and was also named one of the country’s best centers for both cardiac and gastroenterology care. Shriner’s Hospital also provides treatment to pediatric orthopedic patients at no cost to the patient or their families.

Greenville’s outdoor recreation spaces are second to none. The city is surrounded by beautiful natural scenery, including the Blue Ridge Mountains and the nearby Lake Keowee. The area is also home to numerous parks and green spaces, making it easy to get outside and enjoy the fresh air.

In addition to having plenty of outdoor space for organized sports and individual activities like hiking or golfing, Greenville is also home to a variety of semi-professional and professional sports teams including the Greenville Drive (minor league baseball), Greenville Swamp Rabbits (minor league hockey), Greenville Triumph SC (men’s professional soccer, part of the United Soccer League), and Greenville FC (semi-professional soccer).

Community

Finally, Greenville’s strong sense of community is a major reason why so many people are choosing to call it home. The city has a welcoming and friendly vibe, with numerous opportunities to get involved and meet new people. From recreational activities, community events, and volunteer opportunities, Greenville offers residents a chance to make a difference and connect with others.
